{this fits a 9½" baby with an 8" head}

Materials: F crochet hook 1.5 oz. Baby Pompadour Yarn ............................... KIMONO {this is an open front kimono/gown} ~Bodice~ ch 29. row 1: 1 hdc in 3rd ch from hook, and 1 hdc in next 2 sts 3 hdc in next st (1st corner made), 1 hdc in next 4 sts, 3 hdc in next st (2nd corner made), 1 hdc in next 8 sts, 3 hdc in next st (3rd corner made), 1 hdc in next 4 sts, 3 hdc in next st (4th corner made), 1 hdc in last 4 sts. turn. Row 2: ch 2, 1 hdc in ea st across, be sure to put 3 hdc in center st of each corner around. turn. Row 3: ch 2, 1 hdc in ea st to 1st corner, sk sts between corner 1 & corner 2, ch 6, 1 hdc in center st of corner 2 (armhole made) and in each st across to corner 3, sk sts between corner 3 & corner 4, ch 6 (armhole made) 1 hdc in center st of corner 4 and in ea st across. turn. Row 4: ch 2, 1 hdc in ea st across, including ea chain of armhole. turn. ~Skirt~ Row 5: ch 3, 1 dc in each st across. turn. Row 6: ch 2, 1 hdc in each st across. turn. Rows 7-17: alternate rows 5 & 6 repeating the pattern for the skirt. {one row will be dc and one row will be hdc ). across. ~Sleeves~: attach yarn under arms, ch 3, 1 dc in each st around. join. do 3 rows of dc's for short sleeve. sleeves may be lengthened by adding additional rows as desired. (no need to turn on these rows). ~Trim~: Row 18: ch 1, 1 sc in same sp, * sk 1 st, 1 hdc-1dc-1hdc in next st (shell), sk 1 st, 1 sc in next st. repeat * across bottom. put 2 sc into the corner and now work up the side, sc evenly across to neckline corner, then ch 30 (tie made) , sl st back along chain to beginning, and then continue sc evenly around the neck to the next corner, then ch 30 and sl st back along chain to beginning, then continue sc evenly down the side and join with beginning ch 1 st. end off.Click here to ENLARGE image MATCHING CAP with same yarn, ch 4, sl st to form a ring. Rnd 1. ch 3, 12 dc into the ring. join. Rnd 2. ch 3, 1 dc in same sp, * 2 dc in each st around. join. Rnd 3-7. ch 3, 1 dc in ea st around. join. Rnd 8. ch 3, 1 dc front post st in ea st around. join. turn and work in other direction now.. so that when folded the stitch will be on right side. Brim: Rnd 9. ch 3, *1 front post dc in next st, 1 dc in next st, repeat * around. join. Rnd 10. ch 3, * 1 front post dc in a front post dc, 1 dc in a dc, repeat from * around,. join. end off.
